Jéan R. Michel Jr. is the Founder and Managing Partner of JRM Legal PLLC, where he represents clients in a broad range of legal matters including personal injury litigation, business formation and disputes, contract negotiation and enforcement, and other legal and consulting services. He prides himself on keeping clients well-informed throughout all stages of the pre-suit and litigation process, ensuring they receive the highest quality representation.

Prior to founding JRM Legal, Jéan served as an Associate and Managing Attorney at several law firms, where he litigated diverse matters before courts in the District of Columbia, New York, and New Jersey. His legal expertise spans multiple practice areas, including—but not limited to—general civil litigation, corporate and insurance defense, bankruptcy, elder law, aviation, business law, workers’ compensation, and housing law.

Before entering the legal field, Jéan built a strong foundation in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration, gaining experience in areas such as Title IX compliance, Residence Life, Alumni Affairs, and Academic Affairs.

Outside of his legal practice, Jéan is an avid reader and dedicated to community service. He volunteers with the Breaking Barriers Youth Leadership Council through the Say Yes Buffalo program and serves as a Board Member and Legal Analyst for the Arthur Scandrett Disability Scholarship Foundation at Howard University. Additionally, Jéan is General Counsel for Bashi Arts Inc., a nonprofit organization (501(c)(3) status pending) that develops and implements dance-based programming to promote accessibility, affordability, and experimental approaches to contemporary dancemaking for and with South Brooklyn artists.

He earned his Juris Doctor from Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law in Orlando, Florida, where he was actively involved in student leadership. He served as the Executive Managing Editor of the Southern Region Black Law Students Association Law Journal and as President of the law school’s Caribbean Law Student Association.

Jéan holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, with a minor in Legal Studies, from the State University of New York College at Buffalo. As an undergraduate, he served as a Student Justice on the University's Code of Conduct Judicial Board and as a Resident Assistant.
